Tastes Like Burning: A couple of guys who happen to be a couple. With commentary on life, love, and everything in between. Funny? Sure. Irreverent? Of course. Politically correct? Eat Me.

IKE! That's a BAD baby!

Sep 13, 2008

To all our listeners who may be concerned:

Yes, Ike is coming straight for us.

But don't freak out. We'll be fine. The Metroplex is about 600 miles inland, so by the time it gets here, it won't be any worse than the storms we experience regularly in the spring. Actually, this is better because, unlike the spring storms, we actually knew this was coming days in advance, so we've had plenty of time to prepare (which has amounted to moving exactly four lightweight plastic chairs, the outdoor fireplace bowl thingy, the propane grill, and the bird baths).

The worst we'll get is about 4" of rain (not a problem; we're on a hill) and sustained winds of about 30–40 mph, gusting to maybe 50–60 mph (see preparations above).

To our listeners in Houston/Galveston, other areas of S. Texas, and E. Central Texas:

You're in our thoughts and we hope you made/make it through Ike's wrath unscathed.

Thanks to all who've expressed concern for us and look for our special IKE edition of Tastes Like Burning tomorrow night.

Stay crispy (no matter how wet you get)!
